    2. A good collection of poetry I loved Pessoa s poems, they were truly beautiful and I m sure to have appreciated them if I read them in their original language Will definitely look for of Pessoa s poems for further reading.

    3. Ai, como eu tenho saudades Dos sohnos que n o sonhei How deep is my longing For the dreams I did not dream M rio de S Carneiro, Dispers o Dispersion I didn t necessarily expect much from what is, essentially, a souvenir book But it proved a very enjoyable introduction to poets I d only ever heard the name of, if that The translations were largely successful, as far as I could tell, although maybe some of the charm was lost by not keeping the rhyme I m all for while verse, don t get me wrong but [...]

    4. I came across this book shortly after its publication when Tony and I were spending a few days in Lisbon this was the first time I d been back there since my student days in 1978 and my first reencounter with Cam es I d read Cam es and Pessoa before but I wasn t familiar with the other three and particularly enjoyed the poems by Florbela Espanca As my Portuguese is decidedly rusty the bilingual format was great and the reinterpretations of the poems by Austen Hyde and Martin D Evelin went beyond [...]

    5. I picked up this book, because imho Pessoa is one of the greatest Portuguese poets if not the greatest Allthough I do not speak Portuguese, I know some Latin, French, Italian and Spanish, so reading the poems in the original language was do able.Cam es I knew through the works of the Dutch poet novelist J.J Slauerhoff read Het Verboden Rijk.Of the other three poets in this book Ces rio, S Carneiro and Florbela S Carneiro proved a nice discovery.

    6. I raed this after my trip to Portugal Really nice introduction to Portugese poetry Loved the chosen works and the fact that the original Portugese is kept next to the English translations.

    7. Perfect to make contact with some of the greatest poets of Lisbon and discover their poetry This book helped me to fall in love with Florbela Espanca, which I didn t know before But I have the impression that it s a touristic book, one souvenir for the people that visits Portugal the translations there are two versions, in english and french are poor, and the edition seems pretty than literary valuable But definetely I didn t regret I bought it.

    8. This is an absolutely lovely anthology and overview of some of the great Portuguese poets I was already familiar with Pessoa but hadn t read the works of any of the others before They re all so unique and you can really see the breadth and depth of Portuguese poetry within this short book A true gem.
